Legal Mandate, Vision and Mission Statements
Legal Basis
Section 2 of Republic Act No. 4126 provides that the University shall primarily give technical and professional training, advanced instruction in literature, philosophy, the science, and the arts, besides providing for the promotion of scientific and technological researches and democratic access to education to poor but deserving students not only in Northern Samara but also in other parts of the country.
Vision
By the year 2010, the University of Eastern Philippines shall be a world class university, serving a progressive region with an agro-industrial economy propelled by an empowered people enjoying peace and harmony in ecologically balanced environment.
Mission
The development of man and his environment. The learner in its entirety will become honest, hardworking, competent, efficient and effective accelerator of progress imbued with an enlightened sense of nationalism and strong commitment to serve.
Mandate
To primarily give technical and professional training, advanced instructions in literature, philosophy, the sciences and the arts, besides providing for the promotion of scientific and technological researches.
Philosophy
The overriding philosophy of the University considers man (the learner) as the focal point of the educative process. His holistic development encompasses and transcends societal transformation.
Goal
1. To sustain excellence and relevance in academic training both at the undergraduate and the graduate levels;
2. To promote research and development in support to the national goals of people empowerment and global competitiveness; and
3. To broaden and strengthen institutional linkages, promote exchange
of expertise, and generate financial resources from local as well as
foreign sources.
